As such he encouraged opposition to Nazi propaganda and especially its anti-Semitism. He was arrested in January 1942 and was held in a series of prisons, ending up in Dachau Concentration Camp where he was subjected to dreadful medical experimentation on his body. He was killed by lethal injection on 26 July 1942. Titus was beatified in 1985.
