All should live a life in allegiance to Jesus Christ –how, pure in heart and stout in conscience.
In essence, this rule, “Live life in allegiance to God,” describes the way of living for the Carmelites.
God gives us freedom. Allegiance may be interpreted as the personal relationship between two free people, Jesus Christ and myself. We have been invited to live in close relationship with Him who is a real person and not just an intellectual idea. He seeks us and desires to be in deep relationship with each one of us. He, who is Love, is calling people to discover Him and the richness of his heart. He said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.”
